Linfield College, a private, comprehensive, undergraduate institution located in the Pacific Northwest, connects the traditional liberal arts with a practically-based education through collaborative, service and experiential learning opportunities. Linfield is nationally recognized for its strong teaching faculty, outstanding academic programs and distinctive international emphasis. Linfield educates students to become global citizens, with more than half of all graduates participating in study abroad courses.
Linfield offers 47 majors through three programs:
- A residential campus in McMinnville, featuring a traditional liberal arts curriculum, including pre-professional programs;
- A Portland Campus which is home to the Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing;
- The Adult Degree Program, a pioneer in adult education with courses online and at eight sites in Oregon.
Once known as McMinnville College, Linfield’s main campus is located just south of the historic downtown core on 193 park-like acres. The traditional residential campus offers students opportunities to fulfill the college’s mission and connect learning, life and community through classroom, residential and student life experiences.
Established through a partnership between Good Samaritan Hospital (now a part of Legacy Health Systems), the Linfield College-Good Samaritan School of Nursing was established in 1982. The transfer-only campus is located in Northwest Portland and offers students the opportunity to complete bachelor degrees in nursing.
Division of Continuing Education
Founded in 1975, the Division of Continuing Education (DCE) administers the Adult Degree Program, making bachelor’s degrees accessible to working adults through traditional and online courses. Advisors in eight sites around Oregon, and online, serve over 500 students around the state, country and world studying programs in the arts and humanities, business, nursing, and social and behavioral sciences.
